Development Team Leader

Do you want to use your creative and technical skills to help people live longer, healthier lives?

Our software development teams are key to our business – producing software in line with the requirements of our customers and in accordance with our product development framework.

We are looking for a Development Team Lead to lead, motivate and manage a small team of developers and testers working within our agile development framework.  Building upon your previous development experience, you will still be in a hands-on technical role (Developer or Tester), working day-to-day in a Scrum team, but you will be the one your colleagues look to for support, to set their technical direction, optimise/manage performance, advise them on the right approach to a problem in line with standards, methods, tools, applications used and maintain awareness of developing technologies and taking responsibility for driving our development.

You will work closely with your Product Owner, the Software Development Manager and the Software Architect and own the on-time delivery of high-quality software in accordance with our frameworks, strategies and values. Our stakeholders, customers, suppliers and partners will know you as the most dynamic member of the team (though not necessarily the most senior), and as someone, they can rely upon to answer their questions, work through a solution and explain difficult technical issues in a down-to-earth way.

You will need to understand the design, development, testing and release of software using modern development methodologies and a range of frameworks with a ‘right first time’ attitude and able to coordinate with other team leaders to collaboratively deliver a unified suite of software applications providing a complete customer user experience.

You will need to have extensive knowledge of the following:

  • Core Java, TypeScript or JavaScript and HTML5
  • Competence in writing SQL and PL/SQL

Combined with

  • Knowledge of application frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot, Angular)
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration Tools and Versioning Control Systems.
  • A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Studies or a related subject (or equivalent experience gained within the workplace).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the development of software for web-based applications, using relevant technologies and a recognized development framework.

Knowledge of the NHS and Primary Care clinical systems would be an advantage

If this sounds like the ideal role for you please apply.
